The Museum Baruther Glashütte maintains a glass studio in addition to its permanent exhibitions “Museum in der Neue Hütte” , “Burger Exhibition” as well as the temporary exhibitions.

Glassmakers Pavel Hasala and Mariko Seki work in the Baruther Glashütte glass studio. They are bearers of the intangible cultural heritage of manual glass production, which has been listed on the Unesco national list of Germany since 2016. This Museum Baruther Glashütte initiative and was implemented with the help of the partners „LWL-Industriemuseum/Glashütte Gernheim“ and „Glashütte Lamberts“. We are currently successfully networking with international partners to convey the global importance of preserving this handicraft tradition.

The glasses shown in this „collection“ are specimens from the production of the Museum Baruther Glashütte/Glasstudio. They are an expression of the museum’s efforts to maintain the tradition of craftsmanship, to convey it in a museum-pedagogical manner and to support it economically through the sale of glass.

The objects have historical references and deal with other objects in the collection and the wider glass culture. In the tradition of the arts and crafts museums, they also demonstrate the „industriousness“ and are role models for other bearers of the cultural heritage of manual glass production. The manufacturing technique is a form of industrial archaeology.
